College and Credit One Year Later, Student Lindsay Saldebar…Where is She Now?

Last year, Lindsay Saldebar shared her credit journey. At the time, she was starting her freshman year in college, and like many of her friends, she was living on her own for the first time.

Transitioning from living at home to life on campus meant she was still dependent on her parents while also learning through trial and error – and that included understanding the importance of credit. For instance, when she applied for her first credit card without a co-signer, she was denied because she was “credit invisible.”

Lindsay knew that if she wanted to start gaining financial independence, she would need to build her credit history. She signed up for RentReporters in July 2016, and in less than 48 hours, she went from being credit invisible to having a credit score of 658!

So, one year later, where is she now? Recently, Lindsay started the new school year, and today, her credit is still on track. She was even able to get an unsecured credit card! Lindsay is on her way to gaining financial independence.

Looking ahead, she plans on renting an apartment with her friends, and she knows that this will be possible because of her credit score.

Lindsay knows the importance of building her credit history NOW and maintaining a good credit score. Only then will she be able to achieve her life goals and get what she needs in life.
